Dr. Jules V. VanDersarl

Dr. Jules V. VanDersarl spent 18 years as an Air Force dermatologist and 21 years in private practice before joining Colorado Dermatology Institute. He served as Chief Consultant to the USAF Surgeon General for Dermatology from 1982 until his retirement from active duty in 1991. A native of Waco, Texas, he grew up in a military family and lived in several different states, including spending two years overseas. Before graduating from Pius X High School in Lincoln, Nebraska, He earned a B.S. degree from the University of Notre Dame and an M.D. degree from St. Louis University. His 1-year rotating internship and 3-year dermatology residency programs were at USAF Medical Centers. Dr. VanDersarl is a member of several professional organizations. He was Secretary of the Society of Air Force Physicians. Later he served as Secretary-Treasurer, then President, of the Association of Military Dermatologists. He has published 10 research articles on various dermatological topics and presented more than a dozen papers at medical meetings in both the United States and in Europe. In his free time, Jules enjoys golf, fishing, and gardening along with several other hobbies. Jules and his wife, Mary, have 4 children and 4 grandchildren.
