Appreciate what you have before time makes you appreciate what you had.
For those who know me well, you know that I love to travel. I love exploring new places, seeing new things, eating new foods, experiencing new things, and creating life lasting memories. Recently I was fortunate to travel to a developing nation, and while the trip was extremely valuable in so many ways, one thing this trip did was make me really appreciate what we have.
While taking a tour of the city we were visiting we asked several questions about what it is like to live there. One thing that stuck out for me was the hourly rate in US dollars where we went is just over three US dollars. Several basic things like a 2 liter coke; a dozen eggs; one pound of chicken; and two pounds of potatoes cost more than they make in an hour. The average family of 8-10 live in a 1000 square feet home that is unfinished, and some don’t have running water. During a portion of the drive through the country, I was really taken back on some of the living conditions and made me really think about how fortunate we are to live in this amazing country.
I know from time to time life gets very busy for me and I forget how blessed we truly are. I asked you to do some self-reflecting and really think about all the great things we have! Write down all that you are grateful for, and visit them frequently to remind yourself of all the amazing things we have in this life. It is an amazing life we are afforded and live and appreciate it to the fullest.
Have a great weekend.
