So here’s another daily do from your local dermatologist!
So bedbugs are becoming more and more of a problem because bedbugs are getting smart. They’re learning how to deal with all the pesticides that we use to treat them and they’re becoming harder and harder to kill. Now oftentimes you pick up a bed bug from a bed in a hotel room and what happens is somebody comes into that bedroom, from an infected source, either their own house or another hotel, they sleep in the bed, some of the bugs crawl off of them and they go into the sheets and then they eat you at night while you’re sleeping. Now the bedbugs that you get from a hotel room are the same bedbugs that transfer into your house and so if you get bedbugs from a hotel room and you happen to carry them back into a house, whether they are on you or they’re in your clothes or if they’re in your suitcase, then there’s a problem because not only does the hotel have to treat the bedbugs, but also you have to treat your home. So it’s often a process and you will need a professional exterminator to get rid of them, but how do you avoid that in the first place? So there are a couple tips that you can do before you get into a hotel bed you can kind of peel back the sheets and see if you see any of them on the actual mattress or in the linings, and you can see them. They’re little, small, tiny little guys. Next thing you can do is you can put your suitcase up on the stand that’s usually in a hotel room or on the dresser, instead of just leaving it on the ground because it’s harder for the bedbugs to get into your clothing that way. Next thing you can do is as soon as you get home Leave your suitcase in the garage. Take all the clothes out and immediately wash them and then immediately put them in a hot dryer to kill anything. So if you do that after a trip then chances are you’re not going to be transferring those into your house and if you actually look at your bed before you get into it in a hotel room and you don’t see, anything that will help. Now bedbugs do what we call the breakfast, lunch and dinner sign on your arm or on your leg or on your body and it’s kind of what it sounds like, you have three little dots. It’s like they started here with breakfast and then they had lunch a little bit further up and then they have dinner. So oftentimes you’ll have three little bites in a row and that’s one of the big signs that you have bedbugs.
