Dealing With Armpit Odor

Here’s another daily tip from your local dermatologist.

Okay, don’t like stinky armpits? Nobody does. So let’s talk about a couple of brief tips that can help you with it, and we have a longer video that you can watch if you want to as well.

So Tip #1: Keep your armpit hair trimmed short. Now you don’t necessarily have to shave it short unless you want to, but bacteria sticks to armpit hair, and bacteria is what actually makes our armpits smell, because they eat the smell and the byproduct is then odor. So keep your armpit hair trimmed short.

Tip #2: Put your antiperspirant on at night. That’s when they’re supposed to be applied. A lot of people put them on in the morning, but they don’t work that way. You want your armpits to smell like a bed of roses, put your deodorants on in the morning. Please make sure you put your antiperspirant on at night.

Tip #3: Wash your armpits with a good antibacterial soap. That way we’re decreasing the bacterial load on your armpits, which is decreasing the odor. The one that I like is a good over the counter benzoyl peroxide acne wash. You just put it on. You let it sit for about 30 seconds. You rinse it off completely. Otherwise, you will bleach your towels and your clothes, and we don’t want that. So here’s to having good smelling armpits.
