So here’s another “Daily Do” from your friendly local dermatologist.
So the next question is, do skin cancers ever go away on their own? And the answer is absolutely. But usually only when they’re on the cellular level, not when you can actually see them or they’re big enough for you to notice or your dermatologist to notice or that sort of thing. So, all day long our bodies have cancer cells in them and our immune system eats them throughout the day.
But again that happens at the single cell level. It doesn’t really with any realistic possibility happen to a skin cancer once you or your dermatologist can see it. So remember if you can see something that you think is a skin cancer, see your local dermatologist. If they biopsy it and they find cancer underneath there, have it treated.
And guys the last thing I’ll say on this is, if you get a report back from a biopsy where it’s just a shave technique that says that the skin cancer is gone (clear margins), that doesn’t mean anything. They’re looking at less than 1% of the margin. It has to be treated, some way, somehow.
