Here’s another daily tip from your friendly local dermatologist!

So Gianotti crosti is a pretty nonspecific term that we use for a rash that occurs, usually in children, in specific areas of the body like the legs or the buttocks or the arms and usually spares things like the chest and the back and the belly and is usually associated with a virus. Oftentimes in America, that’s Epstein Barr or mono. Now it usually only lasts for a couple weeks to a couple of months and it usually goes away on its own and while there are different treatments that your local dermatologists can give you to help speed this up, the most important thing is to make sure you have the right diagnosis because rashes, well, they tend to be somewhat difficult to diagnose one from the other unless you’re very experienced at this. And so you want to give us the chance to make a “rash decision” and make sure that you have the right diagnosis so that you have the right prognosis and treatment plan to get your skin back to where you want it to be.

Please look at your skin today and contact your Dermatologist if you see anything new, changing or growing!
