Green Feet

Daily Do of Dermatology - Title

Video Transcript:

So here’s another “Daily Do” from your friendly local dermatologist.

What does it mean if your feet are green? And people are like, “What? What are you talking about? Feet being green??” Well, it can happen. Green feet can be linked to an overgrowth of a bacteria called pseudomonas that grows in your sneakers and that pseudomonas then produces a type of pigment that leeches into your skin and can turn your feet green.

Now oftentimes, your feet are gonna smell horrible and your shoes are gonna smell horrible because of this infection. And I would highly encourage you to talk to your local dermatologist about why your feet are green and then to get the appropriate treatment.

There’s some topical treatments. There’s some oral treatments. And your dermatologist is gonna make that decision based upon your overall health. And if you happen to be immunosuppressed by diabetes or HIV or any of those other considerations, they’ll determine what your proper treatment is.
