Lessons From a Fruit Tree

From the Colorado Dermatology Institute in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Fruit Tree

Good morning all and HAPPY Wednesday!

Here is some food for thought for today… Not seeing results? Feel like giving up? Consider this… the last thing to grow on a fruit tree is the FRUIT!

A fruit tree’s whole purpose is to grow fruit, but for it to last it must first build and grow a solid foundation in its root system. It must grow a tall and stately trunk to lift its fruit high into the air, keeping it off the ground and allowing all areas of the fruit to breathe. It must grow sturdy limbs from the tree trunk in order to support the fruit it grows. It must develop many lush green leaves to provide the nutrients necessary to grow fruit that is delicious and plentiful. It must wrap its tender pulp in tough thick bark in order to protect itself year after year from the weather, animals and insects. You may or may not know this, but typically it takes between 4 and 6 years for a fruit tree to produce fruit once it has fully grown. The fruit is so delicate, if the tree does not provide exactly the right environment, the fruit cannot survive.

You too need a sturdy foundation and the right environment for anything you want to accomplish. Take the time to build it, because without it the fruit of your labor will not survive.

Often when we are working towards a goal, we are met with many small achievements, and in the moment some of these are so small they seem insignificant. They are not even a part of the whole picture when we look back at the journey. This does not mean they are not achievements! Remember some of your greatest achievements may in fact be learning what did not work!

When we work on ourselves and who are we want to be, each small step is significant (the forward and the backward). Without each of them we would not get to where we are going.
