Here’s another daily tip from your friendly local dermatologist!

So Nummular Eczema is a particular type of eczema that looks coin-shaped and that’s what nummular means. It means coin shaped. Now there’s lots of different things that can be coin shaped on your body from autoimmune to infectious to dry eczematous skin, so please talk to your local dermatologist to make sure that you have the right diagnosis. But I’ll give you the typical history of the typical patient who comes in and they come in because this coin shape or ring shaped thing has been diagnosed as ringworm and we have a video about that as well. And they put an antifungal on and put an antifungal on and put an antifungal on and the ringworm doesn’t go away. Well like anything in life or in medicine if you think it’s one thing and treat it as one thing should respond to and it doesn’t get better, you need to reassess what you thought it was in the first place. Now numular eczema tends to be enormously itchy, especially when the process gets out of control. In fact, in the history books of dermatology people actually used to be sent to the insane asylum for nummular eczema because they would be scratching their skin off literally down to the bones sometimes because it itched so much. We don’t want you getting there! So, please talk to your local dermatologist about what the diagnosis is and what the treatment is and please make sure you talk to them about the proper skin care regimen so that you can not only treat this effectively, but you can treat the underlying cause. So that you’re not just spending your whole life going from good skin to eczematous skin, good skin to eczematous skin. We want you to stay out of our office and happy. Please talk to us. We have the tips to help you. We have the videos that talk about good skincare regimens and we have products out there that we’ve recommended like CeraVe and Cetaphil that are going to help you to get to the point where your skin isn’t driving you crazy.

Please look at your skin today and see your Dermatologist if you find anything new, changing, or growing!
