Thought for the Day

In a psychological experiment, one group of participants was to tap a tune, while the second was to guess the song. The former thought at least 50% of the latter would get it. In fact, only 2.5% did. The truth is that those with more information often can’t look at a situation from the point of view of less informed people.

Why did I chose to mention this today? Think about all of the misinformation and lack of understanding about the information that is available about our current situation. Between what we don’t know and what we can’t understand it is easy to understand why people are scared and upset with the current situation. But understanding that people are feeling these things does not always translate to understanding what is driving these feelings. If you do not have all the information they have or worse, more information than they have it is more difficult to relate.

So try remember when you are interacting with someone, you don’t know what they know or what information they have been given. This applies so much to our entire lives.
