Thought for the Day

Eliud Kipchoge, a marathon runner recently became the first person to run a marathon in less than two hours.  To put some perspective on this, a marathon is 26.2 miles.  He ran 26.2 miles in one hour, 59 minutes, and 40 seconds.  He was running a 100 meter pace at 17.2 seconds.  The fast sprinters in the world run the 100 meter dash in slightly under 10.0 seconds.  He kept a sprinters pace for 26.2 miles for two hours!  Insane!

Nothing has been seen like this in the running world for more than 50 years when Roger Bannister ran a mile in under 4 minutes, and at the time this was a an astonishing milestone (yes pun intended).

After the run Kipchoge said, “This shows no one is limited.  Now I’ve done it, I am expecting more people to do it after me.”

No one in their right mind thought it was possible to run 26.2 miles in under two hours, and with the right mindset he wanted to prove everyone it was possible.  One of his advisers who was part of the training said Kipchoge will “rest the psychological framework for everybody else.”  He has shown it is possible and now I bet there will be others who will accomplish this feat in the near future.

Do you have thoughts in your mind you think are not possible?  With the right mindset anything is possible.

Because Dermatologists treat more than just skin cancer!
