So here’s another daily tip from your friendly local dermatologist!

So there are a lot of topical vitamin C products out there and they are marketed to help decrease the signs of aging and wrinkles and oxidative stress and all that is true. They do help to a certain degree if you get the right formulations, and if you use them properly. So a lot of people in the beauty industry will tell you that every single day you need to put a vitamin C product on your skin especially your facial skin and a vitamin A product like the retin-A’s, the Differins, that sort of thing, on your skin as well. As well as a whole host of other antioxidants. Now I think that they’re right and I do think that they help and I do use them myself. Perhaps not twice a day every day, but I do use them. One of the things with vitamin C though is you have to be very careful with the formulation, because if you expose it to the air and if the packaging that the vitamin C product comes in is not deliberate to keep it away from air, then basically what’s going to happen is that vitamin C is going to degrade very quickly and you’re not going to get a lot of benefit from it. So pay attention to the packaging and ask yourself, does this packaging protect the product from light and from air and if it does, might be good for you. Ask your local dermatologist. Ask your plastic surgeon about what vitamin C product is right for you, because not all are created equal.

Because Dermatologists treat more than just skin cancer!
