Here’s another daily tip from your local dermatologist.

Chapped lips: We all get it from time to time, but what’s the best way to take care of it? And I’ll give you a couple tips here, but the first is make sure you’re not licking your lips. I tell you all day long people will come into my clinic and they’re constantly licking their lips, and what happens is the saliva that’s meant to digest food is actually digesting your lips because you keep putting it out there. So it’s drying it out and digesting it. You just don’t need it. And most people, even when they’re licking their lips right in front of me, they tell me, “I never do it.”

So, please ask your loved ones if you’re always licking your lips, or going like this. Because that is bringing saliva out. Next is, you don’t need an expensive lip balm. Simple petroleum jelly is about as good as you can get, and if you don’t like the idea of petroleum jelly, there’s all sorts of natural based lip balms that you can use. Please research them, because remember whatever you’re putting on your lips, a good portion of that you’re ingesting.

So I’d prefer organic products that are sustainably made, and that are just simply healthy for you if you happen to consume them.

Because Dermatologists treat more than just skin cancer!
