Concentrating on the Positive

Sometimes the simplest sayings are the most profound. Here are two that fit that category to start off this new week:

“A negative mind will never give you a positive thought.”

Positive thought creates positive energy which powers positive results. Negative thought begets negative energy which begets failure and unhappiness. The power of the mind is incredible and how you use your mind will largely determine how this day, this week, this year, and your life will turn out. This isn’t a “New Age” thought. In fact it is an ancient thought as far back as Buddha who said: “What you think you become. What you feel you attract. What you imagine you create.”

Want proof? Consider this:

A. Have you ever been around a person who always thinks negatively? You know, the ones who will always find the flaw, the ones who habitually whine about everything and who never appreciate what they have or what others have done for them. Or how about the Conspiracy Theorists who can find something sinister in anything or anyone? Are they ever happy? Do they make you feel happy or are they tiresome, irritating, and annoying? And how often are these people successful in anything in life?

B. Think of the successful, happy, vibrant people you know.  Odds are they are positive in their approach to life even when things aren’t ideal. They feel optimistic and they tend to attract people who are also optimistic. They are the ones you like to be around, who are uplifting or maybe they overcame long odds or even tragedies, emerged stronger for it, and are inspiring.

So, if we have a choice of how to live and if our minds are what govern how we perceive life and how we respond to it, doesn’t it make more sense to concentrate on the positive instead of wallowing in the negative? Have a great day!
