So here’s another daily do from your local dermatologist!
Let’s talk about dermal fillers. Now the name actually kind of tells you what it is. Dermal, which is the second part of the skin or below the second part of the skin and fillers, so we are injecting fillers to fill an area to make it more plump, to make it stand out and we’re injecting it into your skin or right below the dermal part of your skin or even further down depending on which filler we’re using. Now you might be saying well, why are you trying to fill my skin and what are these compounds and a lot of times we do this for cosmetic reasons, because as we tend to get wiser different areas tend to sink in a little bit and tend to sag. So let’s say that this area right here is starting to sink in and because it’s sinking in the rest of the skin is starting to sag. If we can plump this up, if we can fill this area, then oftentimes it’ll give you a more youthful appearance and it will help actually lift, because you’re filling this. Now we can use dermal fillers for medical indications as well. So if you have HIV and you start to get the thinning of the fat below the skin due to the processes of the HIV and the medications we use to treat it, well, then we can add a filler to give you that more vibrant healthful appearance as well. Now these dermal fillers, they’ve come a long way. We now have products that have hyaluronic acid in them. Now hyaluronic acid is something that’s naturally produced by your body and they’ve been able to purify it and put it right back into the skin, and there’s other compounds that we use as well as fillers. So, please ask your local dermatologist which dermal filler is right for you. They’ll go through all the options out there and give you the risks and benefits. You need to go to somebody who knows facial anatomy very well before you allow someone to inject things into your face. If you inject these things in the wrong area or if you hit a blood vessel or any of these types of things, you could have serious problems. So please do not go to a Medi spa for this one. Please do not go to anybody other than a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon, who knows what they’re doing.
