Colorado Springs Dermatologist Dr. Reagan Anderson
So here’s another daily do from your local dermatologist!
So measles used to be a thing that killed thousands of people, and then we had a vaccination for it, and then it basically went away, and then about 20 years ago a scientist in England started making up false claims on immunizations to get noticed and to get publicity and those false claims spread around the world, and then all sorts of people started to think that immunizations caused all sorts of problems based off of data that this man made up. Immunizations are enormously safe. If you look at how many lives immunizations have saved, there are more lives saved by immunizations than all of the other medical interventions combined. Think about that. More lives saved by immunizations than everything else that we’ve done or will do in medicine. So please get your immunizations for measles. Now the measles immunization comes as measles, mumps and rubella, and it’s a great shot series and it protects like 95, 98 percent of you not getting measles, which is great. Now what do measles look like if you get them? Well, usually you kind of feel sick. You’re kind of coughing a little bit. You’ve got a fever, you feel down and your eyes might be watering, those sorts of things and then a couple days later you might start getting a rash around your hairline, behind your ears, and then it spreads to your face and it spreads all over your body and it looks like these little red bumps. Now hopefully none of you will ever see measles because it’s not needed to go through that, if you get an immunization. Guys, obviously I’m Pro immunizations. Now they do have problems, certain percentage of the people, very low, do have allergies or do have other things that happen when you do get an immunization, but if you look at it the huge benefit that you can get from immunizations far, far, far outweigh the complications from them.
