Photodynamic Light Therapy (PDT)

Photodynamic Therapy (sometimes referred to as Blue Light Therapy) is used to help decrease the number of pre-cancers called Actinic Keratosis in an area.

The theory is that if we can decrease the pre-cancers in an area we should not only have less pre-cancers to treat in the future but we should hopefully have less Squamous Cell Cancers in the future. It is similar to the creams that were used in the past. Photodynamic Therapy usually has a lot less of a severe reaction than the creams do making the procedure easier to tolerate.

Please remember though that you will be in the office for about 2-2.5 hours for the treatment and then you need to practice very good sun protection for 4 days after the procedure.”
