Superficial Radiation Therapy

Colorado Dermatology Institute is the only Colorado Springs Dermatology Clinic in Southern Colorado to offer the SRT-100™ Superficial Radiotherapy treatment!

For years the mainstay of treatment for Basal and Squamous Cell Carcinomas (referred to as Non-Melanoma Skin Cancers) has been surgery. While effective, the surgical procedures required numbing, cutting, stitches, and sometimes reconstructive plastic surgery. While Colorado Dermatology Institute still offers surgical options to treat the ever increasing numbers of Non-Melanoma Skin Cancers, as part of our comprehensive continuum care, we are excited to offer patients an option that is painless and does not require numbing, cutting or stitches.

This new modality is called Superficial Radiotherapy with the Sensus SRT-100™. We are the first Dermatology clinic in Southern Colorado to offer this treatment because we believe that patients deserve choices when it comes to their health. And, this amazing non-surgical treatment option delivers a remarkable cure rate—about 95 percent for select Non-Melanoma Skin Cancers.

Performed at the Scarborough location of Colorado Dermatology Institute, each treatment is painless and only takes a few minutes. The SRT-100™ can be used to treat lesions on the arms, legs, back and trunk, but it works especially well on Non-Melanoma Skin Cancers located on the head and neck – including along the fold of the nose, eyelids, lips, mouth and ears. Since the treatment doesn’t require surgery, there’s no discomfort, no downtime, and usually produces a very good cosmetic outcome.
