Good morning CDI!
The art of listening is a characteristic trait that is quickly deteriorating within our society. Many people have said this before and so many authors have quoted this, but the following is something I often say, “Most people do not listen with the intent to understand. Most people listen with the intent to reply.”
All of us have conversations all day long with patients, co-workers, and sometimes ourselves. Have you ever had a conversation and after you are done you think to yourself, “I wonder if they actually heard what I was trying to say?” or think to yourself, “They missed my point because they were not listening.”
Today and moving forward really try to listen to those who you have conversations with and really listen to what the other person has to say.
The old adage my grandmother instilled in me goes, “You have two ears on one mouth, so listen twice as much as you talk.”
It is supposed to be a tremendously beautiful weekend, so listen to Mother Nature and get outside and enjoy the beautiful weather.
