Bright Sun With Clouds

Tips For Reducing Sun Damage To Your Skin

Exercising outside can make you feel great, both physically and mentally! But extended time outdoors can also make you vulnerable to damage caused by the sun’s harmful ultraviolet (UV) radiation, which can lead to skin cancer. Whether you compete in team sports, or just love to walk, run and swim, it’s important to make sun protection a daily habit. Look for 30 SPF sunblock that contain the ingredients titanium dioxide and/or zinc oxide, and reapply often. Reapplying sunblock every two hours or immediately after swimming or sweating is especially crucial. Sunblocks can come in small sizes you can keep in a pocket to reapply often while you’re active. Be careful to cover spots that are easy to miss, such as hands, ears, back of the neck and lips.

Don’t forget to keep in mind that even on cloudy days, up to 80% of UV rays can still penetrate clouds. Whether cloudy or not, keep your skin protected!
