Types of Sunscreen

Here’s another daily tip from your local dermatologist.

Ok, sunscreen, a lot of us don’t like them. But there’s lots of options out there for you to use. There’s a mineral based sunscreen that you just apply with a dabber, and it comes out in powder form. There are sunscreens that just have zinc or titanium dioxide. So for people who don’t like the idea of a chemically based sunscreen, you can get a sunscreen that’s pure zinc, and that’s a physical blocker, and zinc is something that we need internally, so if some of it gets absorbed, no harm.

I don’t have a recommend getting the nano-sized sunscreens, because those particles are so small, we don’t know if they go inside of us, or cause any other problems. So micronized is ok, but not nano-sized. The spray sunscreens, they’re my least favorite, but sometimes that’s all I can get people to use. So, I’ll take any sunscreen over no sunscreen at all. There’s lots of choices out there. So please, find one that fits for you and then use it.
