How do you handled things that don’t go well in your life? Do you dwell on them, and if so, does this impact the rest of your day, week, or month? And when things don’t go as planned what do you focus on? Do you focus on the why things didn’t go as planned? Or do you focus on what did you learn from this to get better?
We have talked a lot about where the focus goes, the energy flows, and I am a firm believer in this. When things don’t go as planned I get frustrated. I like to have things mapped out in my head, on paper or in an Excel spreadsheet. What I don’t do is dwell on why things didn’t go as planned and I don’t let this impact the rest of my day, week, or month. I have my moment, however I look at the issue and look at what could I have done better? What could I have done better to ensure my results were clearly defined? What can I do better next time so I don’t have the same result? I don’t focus on the why things went wrong, I focus on what can be done differently next time so one, it doesn’t happen again, and two, what can I learn from this. It is not that I am ignoring the situation or the hard truths by trying to be positive. I recognize the issue, have my brief moment, and then move on with a positive outlook to solve the situation and learn from it.
Next time you have something that doesn’t go as planned, don’t focus on the negativity or beat yourself up why things went wrong. Tackle the issue with a positive outlook and with a growth mentality and see how this impacts your life for the good.
Have an amazing weekend!
